RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL
PRAYER AT MEETINGS SUGGESTED A suggestion that since a new council had been elected the Mayor of Rangiora (Mr C. W. Tyler) should open proceedings at meetings with prayer came before the council’s monthly meeting last night from the chairman of the Rangiora Church Council (the Rev. W. G. Heerdegen). The opinion was expressed in a letter that it would be both fitting and appropriate to open with a prayer, and enclosed was a form of prayer, which' it was stated, would occupy a minute and a half.
“Some of you may be in favour of this proposal and some may be against it,” said the mayor, who suggested the matter be given full consideration before a decision was made one way or the other.
It was decided to defer discussion till the next meeting.
