Pitcairn Island Schoolteacher A teacher who established a school in Pitcairn Island for the British Colonial Service, and whose work was commemorated on recent Pitcairn stamps, has died in Birmingham. Mr A. W. Moverley, who was 45, was born in New Plymouth and educated at the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He graduated M.A. with honours in history at Otago University, and later gained the diploma of education. Before accepting a contract with the Colonial Service to establish the school on Pitcairn Island, he taught at several primapr schools and the Wanganui Technical College. After three years in Pitcairn he was awarded a research scholarship in philology at Birmingham University, where he was studying at the time of his death.
