(Rec. 8 p.m.). HANOI, November. 7. French Union forces have withdrawn from the hills along the Annam-Ton-king border which they captured last month, French Army officials announced today.
The troops fell back to the Red river delta, near Ninhbinh, so that General Rene Cogny, Indo-China Army commander, will have a striker force ready to hit wherever he chooses at the Vietminh divisions eamped all round the delta.
General Cogney said today two Vietminh divisions flanking the northern edge of the delta were now preparing to attack.
Vietminh guerrillas yesterday murdered the French administrator of the Hocmon area, 10 miles north-west of Saigon. The administrator was a village when a Vietminh mine stopped his lorry. Ambushing guerrillas -then rushed forward and shot him, and his four escorts.
