FIVE O’CLOCK PARTY
MIDDLE WATCH OF NAVY LEAGUE
At the invitation of the chairman and committee of the Middle Watch of the Navy League more than 200 guests attended a very well organised and most. enjoyable 5 o’clock party on Saturday. By permission of Commander J. N. Allan, R.N.Z.V.R., the gathering was held in H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, where flags and artistically arranged flowers formed the decorations.
The party was arranged for the twofold purpose of providing entertainment for the country members of the Middle Watch and for visitors to Christchurch for the races, and of raising money for the Pegasus library fund.
The guests were received by the chairman (Miss Natalie Vale), who wore an attractive suit of black and copper-coloured brocade with black velvet collar and cuffs.
Members of her committee were 'Mrs Louise Gray, Misses*Joan Burt, Marion Harris, Jfean Sanderson. Judith Weston, Phillippa Lorimer, Mr W. G. P. Cuningham, Lieutenant-Commander M. Holden, Lieutenant J. Hefford, Messrs Hamish Thomas, Owen Rebs and John Anstey.
