MIGHTY BENNY WINS AGAIN (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, November 8. Mighty Benny gave another brilliant performance when h e won the President’s Handicap from 72 yards on, the second day of the Invercargill Trotting Club’s spring meeting yesterday. The Gore sire, Dillon Hall, was represented by six of the eight winners. Cabra emerged unbeaten in three starts against the straight-out trotters at the meeting. ~ The Mighty Benny-Speed King double combination returned £ll 0s 6d for £l. The weather was fine, and the track fast for the first half of the programme, but light rain, set in then, and the track became greasy. n t There was a fair attendance. The tolalisator' yesterday handled £28,657 10s, a decrease of £6Bso’on last year. For the meeting, £63,789 15s was handled, compared with £72.384 10s—a decrease of £8589 15s on. last year. At a meeting of stipendiary stewards, a charge of alleged interference to Lightning Joe (A. C. Macdonald) in the Lorneville Handicap, by Factotum (H. W. Cox) was heard. After evidence had been taken it was established that interference did take place, causing Lightning Joe to break and prejudicing his winning chance. Cox was fined £lO.
