TUBERCULOSIS TESTS OF TOWN COWS

NORTH SHORE FARMERS PROTEST

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 5. Government officials seeking to test cows supplying milk for Auckland city may not receive co-operation when tuberculosis testing begins in the Auck-

land area next Monday. Forty members of the North Shore Milk Producers’ Association have car-

ried a resolution stating that, though agreeing with tuberculosis testing in principle, they consider all cows in an area should be tested, and not only town supply herds. They also seek better compensation for condemned beasts. Today, the Department of Agriculture announced that four farmers had been notified that testing would begin on Monday. A spokesman warned that farmers would infringe the Stock Act if they refused to co-operate with veterinarians. Normally, farmers would assemble their herds for testing.
