CLAIM TO BE OLDEST BASSOONIST (New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, November 6. Today, the day before his ninetyninth birthday, Mr James Johnson Woods, of Auckland, assembled his' bassoon and played it for a reporter. Although he gave up playing with orchestras and with groups two or three years ago, he still claims to be the oldest bassoonist in the worfd. He will celebrate his birthday tomorrow with a private party at the home of hi s son. Mr A. M. Woods, of Whangarei. Mr Woods may also be the only .person still living who can remember meeting Bishop Selwyn. About 87 years ago Mr Woods heard Bishoo Selwyn preach at Kaipara Elate.
