CROSSING-KEEPER KILLED STRUCK BY TRAIN AT RICCARTON The crossing-keeper at the Lower Riccarton railway crossing was killed when he was struck by the Christ-church-Rangiora train about 5.27 p.m. on Saturday. The body of Andrew Dunn, aged 65. of Heriot street, Invercargill, was recovered yesterday from the Oreti river, about 400 yards from the spot where his whitebait net was set in the river on Thursday. A party of police and civilian searchers found the body snagged on a tree stump in deep water at 6.30 p.m. yesterday.
