ROYAL VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH

RETURNED SERVICEMEN’S PARTICIPATION The Christchurch Returned Services’ Association will shortly open a roll vf returned servicemen who wish to parade on the day that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visit the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establishment Centre at Financial members of the association will receive first consideration. This was stated by the president, Mr G. D. Hattaway, at a half-yearly meeting of the association last evening. Mr Hattaway said that permission had been given for returned servicemen to line the roadway from the gates of the centre down Riccarton avenue. The association planned to advertise shortly asking who wanted to parade. A letter to this effect had also been sent to suburban committees and sub-branches. The police had wanted an assurance of the numbers who would be parading, and he had given a guarantee of 600 to 1000—there might be more.
