MINOR FIRES
The Christchurch Fire Brigade was called to a fire in a car owned by Mr Trevor James Everest, of 39 Flockton street, at 9.57 p.m. on Saturday. The car was in Deans avenue, and some damage was done to the engine and wiring before the fire was extinguished. A grass and lupin fire on the foreshore at Sumner yesterday was extinguished before any damage was done. The call, received at 2.31 p.m.. was attended by units from the central and» Sumner brigades. One unit from the central brigade attended a call at 6.48 p.m. to a chimney fire m a house at 85 Avalon street, occupied by Mr Gustaf Adolf Hagland. There was no damage. At 8.15 p.m. two units from the central brigade attended a call to a chimney fire in a house at 267 Stanmore road, occupied by Mr Frederick Cuniham. There was no damage.
