OBITUARY
MR G. A. MCGREGOR (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 28. Mr George Alexander McGregor. 0.8. E., chief engineer of the liner Rangitoto, and one of the senior engineers of the New Zealand Shipping Company, died in Auckland yesterday. He was 60. He had not served at sea for a year. Mr McGregor was chief engineer of the liner Hororata when she was torpedoed in the North Atlantic in 1942, and played a notable part in her salvage. For his work he received the 0.8. E. He was born at Waipu, and spent most of his working life in the service of the New Zealand Shipping Company. He was vice-president of the Institute of Marine Engineers. Mr McGregor is survived by his widow and two children.
