SEVERE INJURIES FROM CIRCULAR SAW

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, July 20. Serious injuries to his right arm were suffered by Mr G. H. McKenzie, aged 41, assistant resident engineer to the Railways Department at Greymouth, by a circular saw on Sunday afternoon.

Mr McKenzie was sawing wood at his home in Cobden when a small piece flew out, struck the saw, and knocked it down on to his arm.

He was admitted to the Grey Hospital and his condition is reported to be satisfactory.

CYCLIST SUFFERS FRACTURED HIP

lan Douglas Starkey, aged 23, of Belfast, suffered a fractured hip yesterday in a collision at the intersection of the Main North road and Craddock street between the bicycle he was riding and a truck driven by Mr Trevor William Husband, of 289 Hills road. Mr Starkey was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 5.15 p.m., where his condition was later reported as satisfactory.

HAND CAUGHT IN MACHINE

Geoffrey Ambrose Hamilton, aged 52, of 10 Ferguson avenue, Mairehau, suffered severe injuries to a hand yesterday afternoon when his fingers were caught ip a machine at Hardie and Thomson’s builders’ supplies factory in Colombo street He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition was reported last evening as fairly satisfactory.
