PASSENGER BUSES RESUME NORMAL TRAVEL (New Zealand. Press Association) „ AUCKLAND, July 20. Passenger buses resumed normal schedules today between Auckland and Hamilton. Water still covers the mam road south of Mercer, the greatest depth being lOin by the Whangamanno swamp. It will be two or three days before the road is clear The first residents of River road. Mercer, to return today to their homes, which had been flooded, were Mr William Grey, his wife, and four children. Soon after the floods' came two weeks ago, they put their furniture on stilts and went to live with friends. Today they slopped through angle-deep water at the front gate, carrying bags and suit-cases.

Other homes are still abandoned. The river level is receding three to four inches a day.
