PINZA WINS RICH PRIZE QUEEN’S HORSE IN SECOND PLACE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) t LONDON, July 18. Sir Victor Sassoon’s three-year-old colt Pinza, ridden by Sir Gordon Richards, won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the richest prize of the English turf at Ascot today. Her Majesty’s colt Aureole, which was kicked by the French horse Pharel, just before leaving the parade ring, and had to be examined by a veterinary surgeon, was second. Richards held Pinza in behind the pacemaker Nuccio until a furlong and a half from home, where he gave the colt his head and Pinza, showing a brilliant turn of speed, went on to win from Aureole and the French horse Worden 11. Sir Gordon Richards, who recently received invitations to ride in Australia next September and February, said today that it was impossible for him to go to Australia for the Invitation Stakes, a seven-furlong race, in September.
