MANNEQUIN SHOW IN LONDON PLEATS IN LOUNGE SUIT JACKETS (From the London Correspondent of “The Press”) LONDON, June 10. Unlike their female counterparts, who like to stage their mannequin shows against the plush velvet and mirror backgrounds of London’s exclusive hotels, the more austere pundits from Savile Row chose the modernistic reception room of the new Time-Life building in Bond Street, surrounded by sculptures by Henry Moore and Epstein, for their presentation. The audience, most of them dressed in well-worn lounge suits, were told that the aim of the show was to emphasise Britain’s position as the leader in men’s clothing, and to show the essential characteristics of British tailoring—superb workmanship and superb wool materials.
