CHANGE IN CONTROL OPPOSED Agreeing that if the Ashburton Hospita] was controlled from Christchurch or Timaru it was doubtful whether there would be increased efficiency or economy, the Ashburton Borough Council on Monday decided to support the Ashburton Hospital Board in its submissions to the Consultative committee on Hospital Reform that control of the hospital should remain with the board.
We are held under the thumb of Christchurch quite enough, and any alterations to our hospital will be detrimental,” said Cr. W. K. Waters. The Mayor (Mr E. C. Bathurst.) and the Town Clerk (Mr H. Childs) will give evidence to the committee when it visits Christchurch.
