BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER

REVISION FAVOURED BY WELLINGTON SYNOD

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 16. The Wellington Diocesan Synod tonight voted for a revision of the Book of Common Prayer for use in New Zealand. The matter is to be referred to the General Synod for consideration.

The Rev. H. G. Boniface (Foxton) said the present Anglican prayer book was a complete mixture of services and prayer books. In his parish, as in many others, said Mr Boniface, a small booklet was issued at funerals and another at weddings, and for baptisms a small card was used. The use of anything other than the 1662 prayer book was very doubtful legally, and might endanger property held in trust by the Church.
