WAIMATE HOSPITAL—A REGISTERED TRAINING SCHOOL FOR NURSE AIDS: Applications are invited for Hospital Aides to commence a new class at the beginning of September. This is a career with advantages for young ladies. The course is available to suitable women, 17 years and over, and provides for an 18 months’ period of training in Nursing Duties, both medical and surgical. At the completion of the course a State examination is sat and successful candidates will be classed as Registered Aids. Registered Aids desiring to take their General Training will be allowed a concesson of six months, i.e., the training will be 2J years instead of 3 years. Salary payable is as follows:—first-year Aid. £216 14s (includes overtime); second-year aid, £230 10s (includes overtime); first-year Registered Aid, £244 4s (includes overtime). Above salary, plus free board and residence, laundry, uniforms, shoes, and stockings. Three weeks’ annual leave for Aids and four weeks’ annual leave when registered.
