WATER SUPPLY WANTED

SOUTHSHORE RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION A high-pressure water supply is to be sought by the Southshore Ratepayers’ Association, which will write to the City Council advocating such a scheme. This was decided at the association’s annual meeting this week. It was stated that several permanent residents were now living in the area, and as well, the number of week-end residences was increasing. It was felt that property owners should not be obliged to incur the expense of sinking wells when the remainder of New Brighton was supplied with water. The meeting also carried a , motion that the name of the centre road be left unchanged as Rocking Horse road. The name of this road had become well known and was an interesting link with the area’s early ( history before the road was formed. Any change in name was opposed by members. The following officers were elected: chairman, Mr P. skellerup; secretary, Mrs W. H. Williams (re-elected); committee, Messrs P. Proctor, W. Williams, J. W. Turnbull. C. F. Milne, B. W. Price, H. Thomson, W. Bodger, E. O. Arbuckle.
