During April five oases of active tuberculosis were discovered from 1744 X-ray examinations at the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s chest clinic. Last month 1839 miniature and 176 full-size films were taken. Houses for Staff.— -The Minister of Health (Mr J. R. Marshall) has advised the Hospital Boards’ Association that he has no objection to the association’s proposal to erect houses and rent them to key employees at an economic rental. Children’s Convalescent Home. — The Waikato Hospital Board has opened a children’s convalescent home at Raglan and has invited applications from children in the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s district who might benefit from a stay at the home. Early Records.— Old medical case histories and records of patients in the Christchurch Hospital have grown so bulky that space cannot be found for them, and yesterday the North Canterbury Hospital Board agreed to destroy all records before 1926. Railway Ambulance.—A compartment in a semi-sleeping first-class railway carriage has been made available by the Railways Department for the use of stretcher cases requiring rail ambulance transport in the South Island.

£270,000 Loan*— When authority is received from the p>cal Government Loans Board, the North Canterbury Hospital Board proposes to invite public subscription to a loan of £272,000 for development at Burwood Hospital, Rangiora Hospital, and the stores block at Christchurch.
