KAIKOURA-WAIAU BUS SERVICE

FARMERS’ OPPOSITION TO DISCONTINUANCE Because it is claimed that many persons would suffer by the discontinuance of the Kaikoura-Waiau bus service, efforts will be made by the Canterbury executive of Federated Farmers to have the service continued. At a meeting of the executive yesterday, the president (Mr D. W. Gray) and Mr L. C. Gardiner were appointed to investigate the possible results of the loss of the service.

If the bus service was stopped, one member of the farming community served by it would have to collect parcels and mails at least three times a week, said Mr Gardiner.
