INVESTITURE AT PALACE

KNIGHTHOODS TO BE CONFERRED

LONDON, June 21. The Queen will bestow the accolade of knighthood on Sir Gordon Richards and Sir Jack Hobbs at an investiture in Buckingham Palace on June 30—the first to be held by the Queen since her Coronation. No more than 60 others will receive the accolade of knighthood, but most of the 300 summoned tc the Palace that day will be raised to the rank of Knight Grand Cross or Knight Commander in their various orders. No summons has yet been sent to Colonel Sir John Hunt, leader of the British Everest expedition, or to Sir Edmund Hillary, the New Zealander, who, with Tensing Bhotia, reached the mountain’s summit. Sir John Hunt and Sir Edmund Hillary may be received*by the Queen, who will bestow the accolade upon them privately, or they may attend one of the investitures which the Queen will hold at the Palace in July.
