BOAT HARBOUR AT SUMNER
TIMBER AND MATERIALS GRANTED
Timber and other materials costing about £lOOO will be made available by the City Council to the Sumner Boating Club for repairs to the Sumner boat harbour and in restoring the slipway. The club was to be commended for the work done in improving the boat harbour, reported the City Engineer (Mr E. Somers). The “serious and very rapid deterioration’’ of the end of the breakwater was also reported by the club. Mr Somers said additional large rock was required. The repairing of the breakwater was a major item in the proposals being discussed with the Ministry of Works for making the boat harbour suitable for the life-boat.
