PANCHO GONZALES BEATS DONALD BUDGE
(N.Z.F.A.— Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, June 21. Pancho Gonzales, of Los Angeles, today beat Donald Budge, of Oakland, 4-6, 6-4. 7-5. 6-2, to win the 1953 “world” professional tennis championship. Budge gave Gonzales a much stiffer contest than was expected, but he weakened considerably in the fourth set. *
