OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service _ WELLINGTON, June 21. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours following the time of issue, Situation: there are depressions east and west of the North Island and a ridge of high pressure extending on to the South Island from the south-west. Forecast: light or moderate southerlies predominating, weather dull and cold with scattered drizzle and light rain. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Light winds, skies mostly cloudy, with some patches of drizzle in the morning. Cool temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Rain fell steadily in Christchurch yesterday. There was little wind and temperatures were cool. At midnight the sky was overcast and there was a light wind from the south-west. The temperature was 39.6 degrees and the barometer at 29.563 Inches (1001.1 millibars), was rising.
