CORONATION DANCE
OPAWA TENNIS CLUB A very successful dance to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth and to celebrate the forty-fifth anniversary of the Opawa Lawn Tennis Club was held at the Wilding Park pavilion on Saturday night. A portrait of Her Majesty, with the Union Jack and decorations in red, yvhite and blue, provided an appropriate atmosphere. There was a good attendance, and the president of the club .(Mr C. N. Franklin) and Mrs Franklin welcomed the guests.
Special guests included Mr J. K. Burtt (president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association), Mr and Mrs J. Mercer, Mr and Mrs T. W. Patterson and the following club representatives: Mr F. H. G. Johnstone (Avonside), Mi- F. G. Ullrich (Fendalton), accompanied by Mrs Ullrich, and Dr. B. B. Penfold (University). •
A humorous interlude was the novelty musical dressing event, which provided a difficult' task for the judges, Mesdames Patterson and Ullrich.
The master of ceremonies was the secretary of the social committee (Mr W. R. Rollinson), and the arrangements for the dance were made by the social committee—Mr Franklin (chairman), Mrs I. Jackson, Misses L. M. Blakely and P. E. Foster, MessrsJ. T. Dykes, T. Jackson. Rollinson, R. T. Stuart and W. D. Rawlings.
