CHANGE TO BUSES
ST. ALBANS-SPREYDON ROUTE
Another tram route in Christchurch will be converted to a bus route today. Trams on the St. Albans Park-Spreydon route for the last time last evening. Except for extensions at each end, the buses will run along the same route as previously. Instead of finishing at Westminster street north-bound buses will travel by Flockton street, Kensington avenue and Philpotts road to the junction with Ranger street. The Springfield road bus. which has been running to Philpotts road, will have its northern terminus at the junction of Weston road and Cranford street. At the south end of the new bus route the tram route will be followed to the junction of Barrington street and Athelstan street. The bus will then go along Barrington street to Somerfield street. There will be an extension up Hackthorne road for all hill buses.
Buses wijl not stop between Somerfield street and Crichton terrace except to pick up passengers on outward journeys and to set down inward passengers. The Somerfield service will be altered today to run by Lyttelton street to Rose street, instead of to Somerfield street. No time-table alterations are necessary for this service. Alterations to a number of stoppingplaces in the middle of the city, previously advertised in “The Press.” will also come into effect todav.
