Mr L. A. Bennett was elected chairman of the Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society at its annual meeting yesterday. Mr E. A. Adams was elected treasurer. Mr Stuart Cannon, of Christchurch, has been appointed organist and choirmaster of St. Johns Presbyterian Church, Wellington.
Tributes to the memory of Dr. N. Guthrie, Dr. E. Douglas Pullon, and Dr. A. B. Pearson were paid at the annual meeting of the Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society yesterday. Messrs M. Collins and R. S. Crossen have been appointed members of the Prebbleton Domain Board, in place of Messrs A. J. Halkett and W. H. Moore, who have resigned. Mr Henry Jordan, overseas representative of the Ford Motor Company, Ltd., Dagenham, England, arrived at Harewood by Skymaster yesterday to spend two to three weeks in New Zealand.
Messrs B. J. Forbes and M. W. McDonald have been appointed additional members of the Waiau Domain Board. The number of members has been increased from seven to nine, according to a Gazett notice.
