ALLEGED FAILURE TO PAY WAGES TAX
CONTRACTOR DENIES CHARGE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 12. A contractor, Maxwell Francis Constable, who was charged with knowingly using for some other purpose the social security tax deducted from employees’ wages, denied in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today that he had known the tax had not been paid. Mr F. McCarthy, 5.M.,. reserved his decision. He said it was a very important prosecution that might have far-reaching implications.
