NEW BRIGHTON BUS SERVICE

Sir, —Travelling to South Brighton by the 10 p.m. bus last Sunday night, 1 became more aware than ever of the immediate need of a bus around 9 p.m. This 10 o’clock bus was packed to overflowing, so much so that another bus had to be sent for to hold the overflow. I know of many persohs who have to wait around that cold Square from 8.30 p.m. until 10 p’.m; for a bus. So how about one m between? While on the subject of buses, could not something drastic be done to those who continue to smoke in the main section of the bus? The notices are clear enough.—Yours, etc.. ROOM FOR ONE MORE. June 4, .1953. I “There has been no demand to warrant the running of a bus to South Brighton, and traffic is light on all rdutes at the times mentioned,” said the general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardell) when this letter was referred to him. “Observations will be taken and if there is sufficient patronage to support a trip it will be run.”]
