TRAP SHOOTING
SIMES CUP WON BY A. J. THOMSON The Christchurch Gun Club’s annual competition for the R. F. Simes Cup was won outright by A. J. Thomson. The shoot, held on the club’s grounds, was contested by 43 shooters. The match of 20 targets, off open handicap marks, was on the points system, with three points for first, two for second-barrel breaks. G. Croft and B. G. Begg, each with 59 points, divided the second and third prize money, and S. R. Marston and L». Bennett, with 58 points each, divided the balance. The next best scores were:—l. G. Smith and L. Kerr, 57 points; M. Tattle and F. Radford 55; A. W. Fraser, S. Bennett, E. Hammond, E. Bearman, 54; H. Cromie, G. Schaffer, C. Skinner 51. In a 15-target match off 16 yards, C. D. Bailey, M. Tattle, A. J. Tomson, G. Croft, and A. W. Fraser shot the possible and divided the prize-money. The next best scores were:—S. Marston, R. Turner, T. Gebbie, L. Blatchford, L. Kerr, C. Maizard, C. Skinner, I. G. Smith, and M. D. Bailey. 14: T. Everett, S. Bennett, E. Bearman 13; L. Johnson, A. N. Turner, L. Eden, L. Bennett, E. J. Bennett 12. The best scores in a skeet round were: F. Inwood, 20; S. R. Marston, A. N. Turner, 19; C. Malzard, D. W. Davison, A. W. Fraser, T. Everett, 17; B. G. Begg, 16.'
