ANNUAL BALL
HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS’ CRICKET CLUB Members of the Christchurch High School Old Boys’ Cricket Club entertained more than 300 guests at their annual ball in the Winter Garden last evening. Decorations used at the Empire Societies’ Coronation ball last week were supplemented by others in the club’s colours of blue, black and white. A large score board gave progress scores in the test match between England and Australia. The guests of honour included Mr J. Leggat, headmaster of the Christchurch Boys’ High School and Mrs Leggat, Mr E. J. Chapple ’(representing the Lancaster Park Cricket Club) and Mrs Chapple, Mr C. L. Sugden (West Old Boys’ Cricket Club) and Mrs Sugden, and Mr A. R. MacGibbon (Old Collegians’ Cricket Club). The ball was arranged by Mr P. A. Small (club captain) and Mr I. A. Baxter (secretary), assisted by a small committee.
