Taft Resigns Position (Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June ft Senator Robert A. Taft today announced that he was suffering from a serious hip ailment. He resigned his position as Republican majority leader in the Senate for the remainder of this session or Congress. Senator Taft’s announcement caused a minor sensation among senators and his colleagues because of the key role he has been taking in the Eisenhower Administration.
