BOYS’ BREASTSTROKE RECORD BROKEN (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 7. In a special attempt at the Municipal Baths on Saturday David Mauger lowered the New Zealand under 14 boys’ 100 yards breaststroke record to Sl.Ssec—o.6sec better than the figure established by C. Nissen (Bay of Plenty) in 1949. Mauger's time also lowered by 3.2 sec the Otago record established by R. J. Isaacs in 1942. The attempt was made in an unpaced swim. An application will be made to the New Zealand Swimming Council for recognition of the performance as a national record.
