CURRENT NOTES

About 50 18-year-old trainees were entertained by the Y.W.C.A. at Latimer Hall on Sunday afternoon to tea followed by a programme of games and community singing. The hostesses included members of the board of directors and representatives of various clubs within the organisation. A Grand Coronation Ball arranged by the Risingholme Community Centre was held last evening. The function was held in the centre’s hall, which was elaborately decorated by Mr Fenton and helpers with festoons of greenery, heraldic shields and banners. A large "jewelled” crown was suspended from the ceiling. The president (Mr H. Dean) spoke of ti*> significance of the occasion, after which those present sang the National Anthem. Mr T. J. Forrester was master of ceremonies for the programme of old-time and modern dancing.
