STUDENT DENTAL NURSES REQUIRED. Applications are invited from young women desirous of entering upon a professional career of national importance for appointment as Student Dental Nurses in the Department of Health. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be between 17 and 25 years of age and have passed the School Certificate Examination by the time they enter training. TRAINING: The next groups of student nurses will commence training in September, 1953, at Wellington only and in March, 1954, at both Auckland and Wellington. The course occupies two years and the Auckland and Wellington Schools are modern institutions equipped with complete facilities for theoretical and practical instruction. Student Dental Nurses are accommodated in hostels associated with the Training Schools and every care is given to their health and welfare. Priority in hostel accommodation is given to applicants whose homes are not in Wellington or Auckland. SALARY: (a) Student Dental Nurses receive £220 p.a. during first year of training and £255 p.a. during second year. In addition, a lodging allowance of £5B for the first year and £46 for the second year is payable to those nurses living in the hostels, (b) On completion of training, the salary is £395 pa., increasing over a period of five years to £555 p.a.
