EMPIRE TALKS IN LONDON
WORLD AFFAIRS MAY BE MAIN TOPIC (Rec. 10 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 23. The June conference of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers in London would probably be concerned with world affairs, rather than the Commonwealth nations generally, the New Zealand Prime Minister (Mr Holland) said today. He expressed the hope that the meeting would serve to clarify the Commonwealth views on a number of world issues. Mr Holland said he thought there was considerable need for discussion on world problems. “I think such a meeting would have been held within six months, even if the Coronation were not bringing the Commonwealth officials to London.” Mr Holland mentioned the Korean truce negotiations and the situation in South-east Asia as two topics calling for discussion.
Mr Nash in London— Mr Walter Nash, leader of the New Zealand Opposition, arrived in London by air today for the Coronation. He was accompanied by Mrs Nash.—London, May 23.
