Reservation By America WASHINGTON, May 21. A State Department spokesman emphasised that President Eisenhower’s invitation to the British and French Prime Ministers to hold a conference next month did not commit the United States to agree in advance to a meeting later with the leaders of the Soviet Union.
The spokesman (Mr Lincoln White) aeclined to answer directly when asked if the United States view remained that the holding of a Big Four meeting depended on the Soviet Union’s demonstration of deeds to prove that its professions of peace intent were sincere.
