APPEAL FOR LEPERS
Sir,—May I appeal to your readers for left-over skeins or balls of wool, new or unravelled. All are welcome. They are knitted up by our big circle of voluntary knitters into jumpers and scarves for the leper patients in the Indian Homes, especiallv along the Himalayan belt, where there arc extremes of heat and cold. Last year more than 4000 such gifts were given to patien’s at Christmas time with greetings from New Zealand, and the letters of thanks say these New Zealand woollen gifts are the most welcome they ever receive. Wool can be oosted at half usual rates if marked “For dispatch to the Mission of Lepers overseas” and addressed to "The Mission to Lepers." C/o. Susan, 223 Waimea terrace. Beckenham. Christchurch Yours, etc., JAMES K REID South Island Secretary, Mission to Lepers May 22, 1953.
