One member of every three who entered the services during the Second World War did not leave New Zealand and this large body had been completely ignored by the Government although 18-year-old trainees had been included in the Coronation contingent, said Mr K. L. Fisher, South Island vice-president of the New Zealand Homeservicemen’s Association, speaking at the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch. .
