TRACK WORK AT EPSOM
IMPRESSIVE TRIAL BY PETITE YVONNE "The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. May 14. Heavy rain, which' continued all morning, prevented work on the course proper at Epsom today. The ground will be heavy on Saturday for the second day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting. On the shell track, Morano, Billy Boy, Petite Yvonne, Kissing Cup, Maori Queen, and Pleasant Smile all worked particularly well, but the going was firm and fast. Petite Yvonne excelled when she conceded a start to Maori Queen, Kissing Cup, and Pleasant Smile, and beat them in 3min 16sec over one mile and a half. Her last half mile took Imin 1 4-Ssec, the last quarter 30 2-ssec. Morano and Billy Boy gave Goldina a start of several lengths over the same ground. Morano shaded Billy Boy tn 3min 23sec, and ran his last half mile in Imin 1 2-ssec. Old Scotch gave a solid display of trotting over two miles in 4min 39sec. The first half mile took Imin 7sec and the last Imin 8 3-ssec.
Paramount and Barbara Gaillard were together at the end of two miles in 4min 39sec, the last half in Imin ssec. Golden Poire drew attention to her prospects when she beat Vaiden at the end of one mile and a half in 3min 28 l-Ssec. Her last half mile took imin 4 l-Ssec. Lauder HaU easily held Patrick Bari, Clontarf, and Swahee River over the same distance in 3mln 27sec, the last half in imin ssec. Queen Anne was travelling easily alongside the trotters, Metropole and Deportment, in 3mln 35sec, the last half in Imin 7s*c. Woodstock and Meg Mundy ran 3min 34sec, and Red Fury easily recorded Srnin 35sec.
Doradel, without being taxed, recorded 2min 50sec. She looks Very well after her successful trip to Hawera and Awapuni. Indomitable trotted two miles wide out in fenin 44sec.
