MR G. H. WOOD APPOINTED DIRECTOR (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 14, ..The appointment of Mr Geoffrey Hallows Wood, of Christchurch, as a director of the State Advances Corporation, was announced by the Minister in charge of the corporation (Mr J. R.
Marshall) today. Mr Wood’s appointment fills the vacancy created by the death of Mr H. A. C. North, of Christchurch. Mr Wood is manager and chairman of directors of one of Canterbury’s oldest established firms—-the flourmilling and grain business of Wood Bros., Ltd. Born in 1902, Mr Wood was educated at Christ’s College. He is married, with three daughters. He is a member of the council and executive committee of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, and was president in 194243. He is a member of the Canterbury Society of Arts, of which he was president in 1937-1941. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Christchurch Civic Music Council. Mr Wood is a church warden of St. Mark’s, Opawa.
