One of the last to shake hands /with the Prime Minister was 10-year-old John McKenzie. He saw Mr Holland having an earnest eleventh-hour discussion with the Mayor, and caused a roar of laughter in the airport lounge by mistaking Sir John Allum for the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash). Government business occupied Mr Holland almost until it was time, for him to leave Auckland for the airport One of his last engagements was a consultation with Sir James Fletcher about the affairs of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company, Ltd. Telegrams of good wishes included one from Mr Nash. Before he boarded the aircraft, Mr Holland said he could safely say that he had never left so few matters unattended to before going abroad, but as both the Minister ofLabour (Mr W. Sullivan) and the Minister of Maori Affairs (Mr E. B. Corbett) were also bounds for the Coronation, a very heavy burden would fall on the DeputyPrime Minister (Mr K. J. Holyoake) and the other Ministers. He appealed to the public to be considerate in its demands on the time and energy of these Ministers. Mr Holland added that never before had he been showered with more good wishes than in Auckland on this occasion. At Nandi tonight, Mr Holland met the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr T. L. Macdonald), who is attending a conference there.
