TRAINING OF DISABLED
USE OF CENTRE FOR
CIVILIANS R.S.A. SUPPORTS SCHEME The Disabled Servicemen’s Reestablishment League’s training centre at Riccarton had almost completed its task of training disabled servicemen to undertake civilian work, but the league’s work should not be allowed to lapse, said Mr G. D. Hattaway, B resident of the Christchurch Returned ervices’ Association, to a meeting of the executive last evening. “There must be many civilians disabled through accidents or illness who could benefit from the training centre,” Mr Hattaway said. “The British Medical Association has already taken up this matter, but the R.S.A. is interested. Through our Dominion organisation we should find out from the Government the number of civilians who could benefit.” Mr D. Barrett, who seconded Mr Hattaway’s suggestion, said: “All thq faculties are there, and the centre could do the same work for civilians if the Government would approve of the idea.”
