MOOT COURT TO BE HELD
EXPERIENCE FOR JUSTICES OF THE PEACE A. moot court, to give Justices of the Peace experience in Court proceedings, will be held at the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday evening. Police officers will act as defendants in the cases to be heard. These number 14, and range from first offender drunks, through traffic offences, to the importation of a cockatoo. Sub-Inspector J. C, Fletcher will act as prosecutor and the proper Court procedure will be followed by having a Court orderly and police witnesses. Much of the organisation for the moot court has been done by SeniorSergeant A. B. Collinge. The Traffic Superintendent, Mr G. P. Kellar, will act as prosecutor for traffic offences. Dr. A. L. Haslam will preside and act as critic and adviser. He will also give a short talk to the Justices of the Peace. Mr I. L. N. Richardson and Mr B. L. Stanley will act as counsel. Mr W. F. Harness Deputy-Registrar of the Magistrate’s Court, will act as Clerk of the Court. A different Bench of justices will deal with each case.
