MOTHER’S DAY ART UNION
Sir,—What a silly attempt in the letter printed on Saturday .to paint a a lily white! What right have a few to insult the Christianity and intelligence of thousands who bought tickets, with the thought that the profits would go to cheer up thousands of children who have to miss many hours of happiness through want of a few toys, useful books, and other comforts. Further, what ingratitude to Parliament, the police, and other administrators who ensure the integrity of these art unions. This is the sort of pretentiousness that gives visiting bishops from overseas room to say that many churches have lost would-be members. —Yours, etc., E J May 11, 1953.
