WOMAN KILLED BI EXPRESS STRUCK ON MATAURA LEVEL CROSSING (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, May t Mrs Martha Ingram, aged 74, wife of Mr J. W. Ingram, Mayor of Mataura, was killed instantly at 7.22 p-®. today, when she was struck fay to Christchurch-Invercargill Limited express on the main Mataura level cro» ing. Her body was thrown clear of to line, and was found beside the tract Mrs Ingram was returning to he home in Mina street after shopping in Bridge street. The express from Invercargill was waiting at the Mataun railway station for the south-bound train to pass. The bells at the cro» ing were ringing. The Limited express does not atqp nt Mataura. Mrs Ingram was struck bf the front of the engine. The expws was stopped immediately. MOTORCYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE MAN KILLED AT TOKANUI (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, May k Martin McColgan. aged 36, of Progress Valley, was killed at 4.15 P-®-today in a collision between a motorcycle and a car. The accident occurred near Tokanui. FOUR PERSONS INJURED CAR OVERTURNS AT CASHMERE Four persons were admitted to h* pital last evening with slight concussion, suffered when the car in white they were travelling got out of control and turned over. They are: Miss Nanette Hall, of» Runi street, Wellington; John Wew rink of 50 Hackthorne road; Heather Riches, of 171 Cranford street and Keith Timms, who lives at Socy burn, but was staying at 50 Hawthorne road. The accident occurred at 10.15 P a when an old model tourer car, drived by Mr Timms, got out of control whw coming down Hackthorne road. Wb» the driver tried to turn into Cashroe® road the car overturned. The four passengers in the car we** taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by ambulance, where they were admitted. Their condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory-
