SUPERMARINE MAY RACE WELL Supermarine, Bearo, and Uist are expected to dispute the finish of the President’s Handicap, the first leg of the totalisator double at the Birchwood Hunt Club’s meeting at Invercargill today. The distance is one mile, and the field is small but open. Supermarine is top-weight with 7-13. The Lo Zingaro mare is capable on her day, and she has been racing well in fields much stronger than she will meet today. Bearo has won three races this season. At her last start she faded slightly to finish eighth after leading* to the straight in 10-furlong race at Riverton. She will be suited by the shorter race today. The grey, Uist, has also raced well in much stronger company than this, and she should also race prominently. G°od As Gold 1183 been working well, and this Royal Chief mare is selected to win the Kennels Hack Handicap, seven furlongs, the second leg of the double. Good As Gold has been unplaced in her three starts since she won a division of the Trial Plate Handicap at Wyndham in January, but she appears ready to make a bold showing today. Most opposition should come from Baffling Eyes (first and second at his last two starts) and the consistent top-weight. Lumphanan.
