LAOS TO MOBILISE ALL YOUNG MEN (Rec. 11 p.m.) SAIGON, April 9. With the increasing menace of two Vietminh divisions massed in western Tanking, near the Laotian border, the Laotian National Assembly has voted a law empowering the local Government to mobilise able-bodied men between 18 and 35. .. Competent French sources said eventual general mobilisation would enable Laos which now has 13,000 men under arms’, to bring the national army strength to 60,000, provided the necessary equipment was available in French Union forces are on the alert and are continuing to fortify the norJhern Laos stronghold of Sam Neua, 100 kilometres south of the Tonkingborder, in expectation of a big Vietminh spring offensive.
