FAMILY OF J. DE COURCY
Editor Of Debrett Interested (N.Z. Press J^sociation —Copyright) • * LONDON, April 7. The “Daily Express” says that the Australian batsman, James de Courcy, now on his way to Britain with the Australian team in the Orcades, may return home with his name in Debrett as well as in Wisden. The editor of Debrett, Mr Cyril F. J. Hankinson, a follower of cricket, was looking through the names of the Australian team when his eye was taken with the aristocratic name of de Courcy. He is now trying to prove that de Courcy is a member of a family which can trace its ancestors through seven centuries. The present head of the family is Lord Kmgsale. Mr Hankinson says that his researches look promising. He thinks the cricketer comes from a branch of the family which emigrated to Australia early in the nineteenth century.
